This is one of those game concepts you'd never think of, but makes total sense once you've heard it. An open world adventure game about a girl who swaps between various outfits to use different traversal and combat abilities seems like a solid idea. It's exactly what you'll be doing in Infinity Nikki, just announced for various platforms including PS5 and PS4.
Chinese studio Papergames has been making "dress-up adventures" in its Nikki series for a number of years, though only on iOS and Android. Infinity Nikki will be its first attempt to bring the idea to consoles, as well as adopting an open world setting.
As you can see from the trailer, the game takes place in a picturesque, natural environment, featuring grassy plains, old ruins, and small villages. Nikki can change between a number of outfits on the fly, allowing you to adopt new abilities such as hovering through the air, restoring corrupted trees, and shrinking to ride on Momo, her cat companion. Other attire lets you fire projectiles to fire at enemies, become giant, catch bugs, and go fishing. It wouldn't be a modern game without fishing.
There's no word on a release date yet, but Infinity Nikki is confirmed for Sony's consoles in the future. What do you think of this one? Glide into the comments section below.

Based off of the trailer...I'll probably get it due to it being unique. But if it's a broken/buggy mess...then I'll have to pass.
Looks pretty cool. Kind of gives me Genshin vibes. I may get it, because it looks chill and relax game.
I like the exploration by severe flatulence mechanic, but can we get some pre order dlc that turns the cutesy teen anime girl in to a middle aged anime woman or something.
There’s a strange and distracting lack of realism to that skirt that aggrevates me in a game about outfits.
I didn't like "Super Barbie dress up" when Final Fantasy X-2 did it, so I doubt I will like it here either.
It's all just a bit too silly. The sort of thing a tween girl might think is cool.
Yet another Chinese-developed PS game that'll likely never see the light of day. On console, at least.
@IndoorEnthusiast Uhm no dice, you have alot of video games with grown up women as MC.
Variety is the spice of life, so stop complaining, and roleplay as the cute teen anime girl.
Guessing this is aimed at little girls. At least it looks better visually than the usual my-pet-pony type rubbish that seems to fill the PS store.
So, literally "dress to impress"?
Well, the game seems good, or at least has the looks for it.
I am too insecure about my masculinity to say this game looks really cool. But it does.
I'm just hoping the story is as bizarrely dramatic as the mobile games.
If this turns out to be anything like the mobile game then we are in for a crazy ride. That game is all cute and pretty with all the dress up, but with some legit insane lore. Lol
Im looking forward to this.
I like my fair doze of anime girls, but they're all kinda bad-ass. This game seems to lack that so far (for me anyway).
Looks really fun, I don't think I understood properly but is this gonna be f2p like the other games they made?
Never heard of this series before but I almost want to go for this one, though that would mean I wait forever for a release date lol.
Plus, the "gameplay footage" looks a little "too clean", like something we would see on a PS6.
This makes me think of Balan wonderland
@Mintie @rawzeku Just how deep could the story/lore possibly be for a game like this?
Right up my street!!!
@KidBoruto oh boy! The reason why war is settled with fashion rather than violence in Love Nikki is due to something called The Blood Curse... May I present to you the lore behind it - https://lovenikki.fandom.com/wiki/Blood_Curse
I guess free to play with a abundance of MT?
@Mintie Geez you weren't kidding. That wikia is as immense as an anime's.
